In collaboration with the Municipality of Phnom Penh, and the Municipal Department of Labor and Vocational Training and with the financial support from ILO IPEC, on 24 August 2011 at  the InterContinental hotel, CAMFEBA organized a Workshop on “Developing a Joint Framework between Employers’ and Worker Organizations for Eliminating Urban Child Labour at the Riverside in Phnom Penh.” This workshop was attended by 30 participants, representing the Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Labor and Vocational Training, ILO/IPEC, Trade Unions, and Employers.

This workshop purported to develop a Joint Framework between Employers and Worker Organizations for eliminating urban child labour at the Riverside in Phnom Penh. This was the first time ever that both parties, Employers and Trade Unions, met and discussed on the same topic of how they can work together to combat or eliminate child labour in their workplace as well as in the target area.

This workshop was adjourned with a very fruitful result as both parties came with a mutual understanding. Moreover, there were a lot of good idea and comments on how both parties agreed to eliminate child labor in their work place as well as in the target area in Phnom Penh in order to develop a joint strategy that would express the commitment of both parties  working together to combat child labour and this framework will be disseminated to the relevant parties once it is finalized and adopted.
